Funeral Directors

Sue Emmerson: Joined Richardsons Funeral Directors in 2010 after a life long wish to be a Funeral Director and has been manager of the Funeral Department since December 2014. Her previous employment was in the care of the elderly, where she achieved the position of assistant manager of a Housing with Care Scheme. Sue is married and lives in Langwathby. To date she is the only female Funeral Director in the Eden Valley.


Alistair Glen: Joined the Funeral Department in 2010 having previously been manager of the Joinery Department of John Richardsons Timber Merchants for 20 years. Alistair is married and lives in Penrith.


Andy Ramsay: Joined Richardsons Funeral Directors in May 2017 having previously been a self-employed Leather Worker. Andy is married and lives in Penrith.

Underbearers

Colin Middleton: Has been employed in the firm as a part time bearer / driver since 1998. He was previously employed as a British Telecom Manager. He is married and lives in Stainton.

Geoff Ellerton: Has been employed in the firm as a part time bearer / driver since 2001, having previously owned a Milk Retail business in Shap and surrounding District. He is married and lives in Penrith and also served in Penrith as a Special Constable for 18 years.

Raymond Hope: Has been in the firm as a part time bearer / driver since 2006, having previously been employed by the Milk Marketing Board as a tanker driver for over 39 years. He is married and lives in Clifton.

Dennis Bain: On leaving school in 1960 he started an apprenticeship with John Richardson and Son as a joiner. He left in 1986 to work for the Local Authority until retirement in 2010 when he then became a part time bearer for the firm. He is married and lives in Penrith.
